[i]mageraine: Up to speed

Hrm. I should really talk about things.

The beautiful [info]kchan22 flew in Thursday evening and stayed with us through Monday morning, bringing and leaving flurries of snow in her wake. It was fantastic having her here and while I could go into details, I will not, but I will say I wish her visit could have been longer.

After last Tuesday's NBC client lunch at an expensive, fancy steakhouse downtown, and Thursday's company potluck luncheon that stuffed me to the gills, I did attend a bit of Friday's company Christmas party at a nearby bar. I left work an hour early, darted in to the party for a half hour, partaking of one drink before excusing myself to go home and make turkeyburgers. Delicious turkeyburgers, mind you.

Saturday was filled with shopping and readying the food for the evening's dinner. The total headcount was roughly a quarter of what I invited, but the company was first-rate and the food beyond compare. As we sat back near the end, trying to digest the meal so we could move on to dessert, it was discovered that every single dish had contained cheese. No wonder it was so awesome. ^.^

People stayed around and played Rock Band for a significant amount of time. A quick one-shot tabletop was suggested and I attempted to pull one together, but sadly the hour grew late and it did not occur. Lorrie stayed overnight to avoid the icy roads and we ended up talking for hours on Sunday morning, catching up with everything and eventually poking through my wedding video for kicks. She left and I spent the rest of the night watching my houseguest beat Bioshock. Great game, I can't wait to try it myself.

Monday morning rolled around and I was forced to say goodbye before darting out the door for work. I did consider playing hooky but my dedication to my job is still too great, not to mention this week has been crazy for getting everything done and shipped out in time for the holidays. During the day I received confirmation of Peter's arrival at Laura's apartment, as well as confirmation of our guest's safe return back in the windy city.

Today I work on finishing my cousin's Christmas present, as well as...well, that's it, I think. Just hers is left. I'm actually on top of presenting this year. This means I probably forgot about seven people that are very important. My apologies, I'm a moron like that. =\

kchan22 - Of course. It's all up to you. If you dream it, live it, and be it.
kuroneko42 - Most certainly!

[i]mageraine: End of the Yearish

The everlasting 'end of the year' meme, when I yank the first lines of the my first post of each month this year. It will be short, completely out of context and come nowhere close to truly illustrating how little I posted this year. ^.^

January: I see a lot of this sort of thing flitting about LJ, and who am I to resist a meme?
February: black
March: Weekend went well. :)
April: Happy (belated) Birthday!
May: The Race!
June: DAMMIT PIXAR
July: Mom sent me a job listing she saw on Craig's List while searching for library listings with which to revise her job description.
August: How does one politely say: I had such a dismal time at your event this weekend that I quite seriously pondered leaving it to go read a book, or maybe watch a movie.
September: It’s a cool September evening at the Center for Disease Control’s level 4 bio-facility, Pender Brook.
October: Work has been hectic over the last week.
November: As they say...only one time is your first time.
December: The 'deleted scene' I posted yesterday was the result of a desperate desire to continue writing while still at work.

[i]mageraine: Unintentional Bra Shopping

I've never really been fond of Macy's. While their old-school commercials (and Martha Stewart) sing their praises, I always associate the department store with far-too-high prices and way too much perfume in your face. They do have some nice housewares, but the price factor comes in again.

I remember walking into a Macy's with a friend once and seeing an adorable broomstick skirt on the rack. The fabric was nice enough, and the colors were pretty cute. I checked the price tag: $78. I put the skirt down and we walked straight out of the store, and I just don't shop there for clothing. Ever.

Well, yesterday we were walking through Macy's anyway and I ended up seeing something that took me completely by surprise. There, on the racks in the lingerie section, were bras in my size. My size that I typically have to order online or go to a specialty store for personal fittings. MY SIZE. I grabbed three and tried them on, then bought one for roughly the same price as the aforementioned skirt. But still. My size. On the rack.

Macy's now has my tentative stamp of approval.
